We’re excited to announce that we have recently updated SkiniTunes to 1.1.0!

– Live Messenger no longer opens when disabled
– Windows DPI changes no longer causes misalignment issues
– Track information no longer returns underscores for ‘&’
– Lyrics are now provided by LYRDB.com
– Enhanced Lyrics results
– Misc bug fixes

Currently we’re waiting for Download.com to update their version of our program. In the meantime, if you would like to download SkiniTunes version 1.1.0 you may do so here:

LyricWiki API Runs Into Trouble Over Lyric Licensing

Recently LyricWiki has limited the use of their API. Since this is what we use to provide lyrics on the fly to our customers, you may have received errors or message boxes.

We are currently working diligently for a new solution to retrieving lyrics. We hope to have this released sometime soon. We have also received suggestions and feedback from many of you and some of these suggestions may make this update.

Previously reviewed SkiniTunes is an addon for iTunes that adds skins to the mini iTunes player. Besides just skinning the mini player with themes, the SkiniTunes app also adds album artwork to the mini iTunes player. See the nice reviews they’ve got in their blog. There are two versions of the app – free and pro.

While the free version does the obvious stuff like skinning iTunes and adding artwork to the miniplayer, the pro version goes a little ahead and adds fancy Window effects, adjustable transparency, ability to download lyrics, a sleep timer among other things. The pro versioon costs $5.

There are two interfaces within SkiniTunes. You can use the Mini Player which gives you playback controls plus album art and access to the star rating system. Alternately you can use the Skini Player which is so narrow you can tuck it away against the edge of your screen or taskbar and easily forget it’s there. The Skini Player is just tall enough for artist and song information with controls tucked to the side.”
